The Blob to appear in X-Men: Apocalypse

August 18, 2015 by Joshua Gill

A photograph posted by Benjamin Malartre Bureau on Instagram has quickly circulated around the web detailing the addition of a new character to the upcoming X-Men Apocalypse. The Blob – who previously appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine – will join the cavalcade of mutants set to take the floor in the newest X-Men film.

The Blob, portrayed by Kevin Durand (The Strain), originally appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine as Fred Dukes, an over eating character who shares the same name as The Blob with none of his powers. However, it seems The Blob will now be portrayed by a French/Canadian actor, who according to Bureau, weighs a staggering 540 lbs.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set for release on May 19th, 2016 in the UK and May 27th, 2016 in the States. The cast includes X-Men veterans James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Evan Peters (Quicksilver), Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggert) and Lucas Till (Havok) along with newcomers Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Apocalypse, Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan (Mud) as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp (House of Anubis) as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Nightcrawler, Ben Hardy (EastEnders) as Angel, Olivia Munn (Magic Mike) as Psylocke and newcomer Lana Condor as Jubilee.
