Emmy Award-nominated transgender actress Laverne Cox (Orange Is the New Black) has signed on to play Dr. Frank-N-Furter in Fox’s upcoming TV remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Announced back in April, the two-hour TV taped event special is being directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega (High School Musical, Michael Jackson’s This Is It) and is described as “a reimagining of the campy horror feature [that will] stick faithfully to the text and the score of the original but greatly reimagine the story visually”.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show will air on Fox in 2016.
