Announcement trailer and poster for The Ring vs. The Grudge

February 24, 2016 by admin

Two of Japan’s biggest horror franchises are about to meet with the announcement trailer for Sadako vs. Kayako aka Ringu vs. Ju-On. Check out the poster and trailer here…

The video’s description, which is translated badly from Japanese reads: “When you never met and entangled the “curse” the two do not, the most fear confrontation of the century begins!”

This is a funny one because, as noted by Empire Magazine, this started out life as a fan mash-up-trailer that was intended as a joke but became so popular that it convinced Kadokawa and NBC Universal Japan to join forces and make the movie.

Ringu was first released in 1988 which then got two sequels in 1998 and 2000 before getting the American remake treatment with The Ring in 2002, The Ring Two in 2005 and Rings this coming year. Ju-On: The Grudge was released in 2002 and got a sequle the following year. Like Ringu, it was remade for American audiences in 2004 and got two sequels of its own in 2006 and 2009.

Sadako Vs. Kayako will be directed by Kōji Shiraishi and stars Mizuki Yamamoto (Ghost Hunt).
