Rumour: George Miller linked to director’s chair on Green Lantern Corps

April 29, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Warning: This rumour comes by way of Heroic Hollywood. Proceed with caution…

Last week we heard a rumour about Warner Bros.’ Green Lantern Corps suggesting that the DC movie will feature Hal Jordan, John Stewart and Kyle Rayner, and now comes word on a possible director for the project. Yes, Heroic Hollywood’s El Mayimbe has been gazing into his crystal ball once again, and is claiming that George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road) is the name floating around for the director’s chair on the 2020 release.

“Let me tell you what I’m hearing – I know something, I heard something yesterday,” claims Mayimbe. “The hot rumour is George Miller… Boom! George Miller is being rumoured to direct the Green Lantern Corps movie, and I think it’d be perfect for him, are you kidding me? George Miller. Again, it’s just a rumour right now, I just literally heard this yesterday.”

Last year Miller was also rumoured to be in the frame for the as-yet-unannounced Man of Steel 2 (although he subsequently denied it), and is quickly turning into the “go-to-guy” for movie sites when it comes to taking a guess at who might direct an upcoming DC movie. And with good reason too – back in 2007 he was attached to the abandoned Justice League Mortal movie and he has an excellent relationship with Warner Bros., having just earned the studio six Oscars for Fury Road.

Expect him linked to Cyborg by the summer…
