Nicolas Winding Refn would like to direct a Batgirl movie

June 26, 2016 by Gary Collinson

It looks like Nicolas Winding Refn is keen to go from female-led horror to female-led superheroes, with The Neon Demon director revealing to Business Insider that he’d like to direct a Batgirl movie.

“God, I would love to make [a superhero movie], it would probably be great fun,” said Refn. “I just don’t know when it’s going to happen. I very much enjoy my freedom, creatively, but I also would love to make one of those big Hollywood films that costs a lot of money and has a lot of people running around with cell phones and all that insanity. What ones are left? You know the one I want to do? I want to make Batgirl. Let’s get Warner working on it.”

Would you like to see Nicolas Winding Refn directing a Batgirl movie as part of the DC Extended Universe? Let us know in the comments below…

The Neon Demon is out now in the States and opens on July 8th in the UK, and features a cast that includes Elle Fanning (Maleficent), Jena Malone (Inherent Vice), Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows), Desmond Harrington (Wrong Turn), Alessandro Nivola (Selma), Christina Hendricks (Drive), Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Keanu Reeves (John Wick).
