SDCC: It’s an 8 Simple Rules reunion as Katey Sagal joins The Big Bang Theory as Penny’s mother

During the San Diego Comic-Con panel for The Big Bang Theory, executive producer Steve Molaro has announced that the upcoming tenth season will see an 8 Simple Rules reunion, as Katey Sagal joins the cast as the mother of Kaley Cuoco’s Penny.

“We are finally going to meet more of Penny’s family,” EP Steve Molaro said. “We’re going to be meeting Penny’s mom and her brother in the first episode back. We’re super excited that Katey Sagal will be playing Penny’s mom.”

Furthermore, it was also revealed that Jack McBrayer (30 Rock) will play Penny’s brother, with both new additions set to make their debut in the season ten premiere, which is set for September 19th.
