Simon Kinberg on Fox’s X-Men schedule, says Gambit will shoot in the spring

July 8, 2016 by Gary Collinson

During an interview with The Hashtag Show (via Comic Book), writer-producer Simon Kinberg has spoken briefly about Fox’s upcoming X-Men schedule, as well as revealing that the current plan is to begin filming the oft-delayed Gambit movie in the Spring.

“We’re figuring out [the schedule now],” said Kinberg. “The first thing up, we’re shooting the Wolverine movie right now and we start shooting Deadpool 2 at the beginning of next year, then I sit down and start writing the next one of the mainline X-Men movies real soon. We have a great script on [Gambit] and hope to shoot that movie at the beginning of spring of next year.”

The Channing Tatum-headlined Gambit was originally slated for release this October, with Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) set to direct. However, Wyatt exited the project due to creative differences, with Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) then replacing him. Filming was then set for March, only for it to be pushed back once again, with Kinberg then telling us in May that “we want to make sure we get it right” before moving into production.

Seems they now might have done that…
