December 15, 2016 by Ricky Church

There has been a lot of mystery surrounding the lead character of Star Trek: Discovery, aside from the information that she will only be known as Lieutenant Commander  or Number One in the first season. However, CBS has now revealed the identity of the actress playing her. with The Walking Dead‘s Sonequa Martin-Green cast as the series’ lead.

Martin-Green currently stars as Sasha Williams, a member of Rick’s group of survivors fighting against Negan in The Walking Dead, and previously starred in Once Upon a Time and The Good Wife. She joins Michelle Yeoh, Doug Jones and Anthony Rapp as crew members of the U.S.S. Discovery while Chris Obi, Shazad Latif and Mary Chieffo will play their Klingon antagonists.

Star Trek: Discovery will air on CBS All Access in the U.S. and over the world on Netflix in May 2017.
