Kingpin is unlikely to appear in future Marvel movies, says Vincent D’Onofrio

January 17, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin has become a fan favourite after appearing in Netflix’s Daredevil. But it seems the crime lord is unlikely to make an appearance in any future Marvel movies.

Speaking to Digital Spy while promoting his latest project Emerald City, the actor was asked about Kingpin’s future as it pertained to the MCU. The Full Metal Jacket actor had the following to say.

“I would love to switch over to the movies, but I think it’s pretty much been said it’s not going to happen. Or at least not for a very, very long time. I think Kevin Feige explained that, and that’s what makes the most sense, he said the film universe is too jam-packed. It’s hard enough already, and if they keep bringing big characters in that they have to service in the writing, it’s not gonna work. They’re trying to figure out already how to individualise more and at the same time keep The Avengers going. It makes sense not to mix the TV stuff, there’s just too many characters”.

While this is sad news for fans of the character and of D’Onofrio’s performance in Daredevil season one and two, Marvel are indeed juggling a lot of fruit at the moment.

The future is of course uncertain, but right now at least the best we can hope for is another Netflix appearance.
