Lionsgate has plans for “six-movie story arc” for Power Rangers

March 26, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Back in May of last year, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer revealed that the studio could make as many as seven Power Rangers movies, and now that the big screen reboot is here, it seems that plans are being put into action for the future of the franchise.

“We already have a six-movie story arc,” Haim Saban, founder of Saban Entertainment, told Variety. “If this film is as successful as I hope on March 24th, on March 25th we’ll have the first story meeting for Movie No. 2.”

Power Rangers is looking at a domestic opening weekend in the region of $40 million, and while there’s no word yet on international box office, it certainly seems that Lionsgate and Saban will be keen to press ahead with its plans.

Saban’s POWER RANGERS follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove — and the world — is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.

Power Rangers is set for release on March 24th 2017 and stars Becky G as the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, R.J. Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Bryan Cranston as Zordon, Bill Hader as Alpha 5 and Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa.
