The Matrix reboot in development, Michael B. Jordan eyed to star

March 15, 2017 by Robert Kojder

The Hollywood Reporter has broken word that Warner Bros. is going ahead with plans to reboot what is arguably the most influential action movie of the 90s (and one of the best of all time), The Matrix.

It is being reported that Michael B. Jordan (Creed, Fruitvale Station) is wanted for this new take on the franchise and that the studio has plans to bring to life an entire universe based on the world. Zak Penn (X-Men 2, X-Men: The Last Stand, The Avengers) is in talks to write a treatment, and while Matrix creators the Wachowskis are not involved at this point in time, it’s said that the studio would want their blessing for the project.

The Matrix follows a computer hacker who learns from mysterious rebels about the true nature of his reality and his role in the war against its controllers. Despite two sequels that were met with a mostly negative critical reception and soured enthusiasm on the franchise, The Matrix still launched Keanu Reeves into superstardom and cemented him as one of America’s leading action stars. Those John Wick movies many are raving about nowadays wouldn’t have ever happened without The Matrix.

Are you excited about the prospect of a Matrix reboot? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
