…Turning to Fox now and following the casting of Josh Brolin as Cable in Deadpool 2, the actor has posted a pre-production photo showing him in a facial cast as he prepares for his role as Nathan Summers, while Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld shared a piece of Brolin-inspired Cable artwork and Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige said he had no problem with his Thanos star pulling double Marvel duty: “We don’t have anything written into our contracts about other roles that people can do. Indiana Jones and Han Solo are the same person [and] it hasn’t been a problem. And I think Thanos and Cable are two very different characters.” Meanwhile, in other Deadpool 2 news, Leslie Uggams has revealed she’ll be back as Blind Al alongside the returning Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus) and Karan Soni (Dopinder)…
…It looks like we have a start date for X-Men: The New Mutants, the upcoming X-Men spinoff from director Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars), with principal photography reportedly set to get underway on Boston, Massachusetts on June 4th. If accurate, we should expect to finally start hearing some official casting news over the coming weeks…
…It’s been a fairly quiet week in the DCEU, although Joss Whedon did offer up a few words on his Batgirl solo movie, revealing that he’s unlikely to cast a big name actress in the lead, as well as discussing what drew him to the project: “I started getting obsessed with how a young woman could get hardcore enough to need to put on the cowl. Like, what’s her damage? She didn’t have her parents killed in an alley. Who is this person, who decides — rather than being forced to by their childhood trauma — decides to pick up this life? How intense and driven that person is … I just couldn’t stop thinking about it.” Meanwhile, Marvel’s Kevin Feige – who of course produced The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron – also revealed that he’s looking forward to seeing Whedon’s take on the heroine: ““He did call a couple months ago to tell me about it. He didn’t have to call but I appreciated that he did. I think a Joss Whedon Batgirl would be awesome…”
…Diane Lane has confirmed that she will be reprising the role of Martha Kent in Justice League, while the actress also dismissed the criticism over the much-ridiculed ‘Save Martha’ scene, stating that she found it appropriate for the story: “It’s the compassion for a man who’s lost his mother. When you understand the wound, you can work better with people….”

The series follows Kal-El’s grandfather Seg-El, and this week saw a first trailer leaking online, although Syfy moved faster than a speeding bullet to get it taken down…
