Lucasfilm officially dubs Anakin’s lightsaber as Rey’s from Star Wars: The Last Jedi onward

May 25, 2017 by Robert Kojder

Although most of us Star Wars fans have been referring to the historic lightsaber as Anakin’s / Luke’s even when in Rey’s possession in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Lucasfilm is now officially giving full ownership of the weapon to the Sequel Trilogy’s heroine. The change begins with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, as the lightsaber will presumably become Rey’s go-to weapon.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Star Wars Show, Lucasfilm’s Pablo Hidalgo stated: “Either way, the blade is no longer considered Anakin’s lightsaber by the Lucasfilm marketing department. It has now been officially dubbed ‘Rey’s’.”
