Jason Bateman teases start of production on Arrested Development season 5

July 31, 2017 by Ricky Church

The one man who kept them all together will do it again very shortly. Actor Jason Bateman has teased on Twitter that production for the fifth season of Arrested Development will begin in the beginning of August for Netflix. In his post, he shared a photo of a very familiar looking living room to fans of the Bluth family and said “The Bluths move back in on the 8th” – presumably meaning that filming will begin next week.

Arrested Development‘s fourth season aired on Netflix in 2013 and ended in a cliffhanger. Buster Bluth, the youngest child of the Bluth clan, was arrested for the apparent murder of Lucille 2, played by Liza Minnelli. In an interview he had with Deadline a few weeks ago, Bateman teased the story would be a bit of a murder mystery.

“I haven’t seen any scripts yet, but it’s my understanding that this season is basically the second act of a three-act story that started with the first load of Netflix episodes. It was a story that Mitchell Hurwitz hatched after the Fox episodes. There’s no plan yet to do a third act, but if this season is embraced that is definitely a possibility. One of the major stories is the death of Liza Minnelli’s character and who did it. It’s not a murder mystery per se, but that’s one of the central threads.”

What do you think of the idea for Arrested Develpment‘s fifth season? Who do you think killed Lucille 2? Let us know below…
