September 1, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Back in July it was announced that Atari is working on a new console entitled the Ataribox, and now we have word that the iconic Atari 2600 is returning this Christmas with the Atari ‘Retro’ Handheld, which retains the console’s iconic ‘wood’ effect, and comes packed with 50 classic games.

“We are delighted to be working with Atari on this amazing project,” said David Pain of PQube, who is developing the officially licensed machine, as well as the Atari ‘Retro’ Plug and Play TV Joystick. “Having sold over a million retro gaming consoles, we have taken the extensive feedback from press, retail and the consumer to develop new range of hardware that is faithful to the Atari brand.”
