Sony snaps up rights to coming of age horror Summer of Night

September 20, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Sony is looking to channel the success of Stranger Things and It by snapping up the rights to a package based upon Dan Simmons’ coming of age horror novel Summer of Night.

Published in 1991, Summer of Night “revolves around a series of hauntingly sinister events that threaten a Midwestern town as a group of young teens unearths a centuries-old evil prophecy of biblical proportions.”

The film adaptation is set to be directed by Mexican helmer Isaac Ezban (The Incident, The Similars), with Ben Poole (Americatown) penning the script. The movie will be produced by Ehren Kruger and Daniel Bobker, whose previous horror releases include The Ring and The Skeleton Key.
