2018 is shaping up to be a very big year indeed for Josh Brolin on the comic book movie front. Not only is he set to take on the entirity of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes with his role as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, but he’s also set to bring the time-travelling mutant Cable to life in 20th Century Fox’s hotly-anticipated sequel Deadpool 2.
It seems that Brolin has now wrapped his work as Nathan Summers on the follow-up to last year’s R-rated blockbuster, and Cable co-creator Rob Liefeld has now taken to Instagram to congratulate the actor on his performance.
“Huge shout out to Josh Brolin for completing his inaugural mission as CABLE!! Many of you know I sweated the casting of this role like no other. And then the producers hit the bullseye! BROLIN!! Dude is an actor’s actor, talent to spare. Josh Brolin as Cable will held in as high regard as Ryan as Deadpool and Hugh as Wolverine. What a treat we have in store for us next summer. As I have said often, wear those brown pants to Deadpool 2 next summer. They’ll come in handy! Thanks to Ryan Reynolds for bringing this vision to life!”
Deadpool 2 sees David Leitch (John Wick) directing a cast that includes returning stars Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), T.J. Miller (Weasel), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al) and Karan Soni (Dopinder) alongside new additions Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as Domino, Josh Brolin (Avengers: Infinity War) as Cable, Jack Kesy (The Strain) as the film’s villain, and Shioli Kutsuna (The Outsider), Eddie Marsan (Atomic Blonde) and Julian Dennison (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) in as-yet-unrevealed roles. It is set for release on June 1st 2018.
