SKRULLS IN X-MEN DARK PHOENIX?

There’s an interesting Quicksilver dynamic with The Skrulls, in that their both owned by X-Men and Marvel Studios. And in a new rumour from the previously-unheard-of Universo X-Men, the next entry in the mutant franchise will feature The Skrulls ahead of the shape-shifting race appearing in 2019’s Captain Marvel. According to the site, the film includes a scene at the United Nations building in New York, where Professor X and company are discussing mutant rights. However, the building subsequently comes under attack from alien ships, with actors reportedly sporting motion-capture suits and clearly identified as the Skrulls. Read more here.

DISCOVER THE TRUTH

A character Marvel Studios has explicit rights to though is Frank Castle, aka The Punisher. The studio and Netflix released a new trailer yesterday that finally gave us a launch date for the short series. Check it out here.

PIKA-PIKA-CASTING

It was announced last year that Rob Letterman would be helming the first live-action Pokemon movie Detective Pikachu, and a new rumour from The Hashtag Show – who have a few scoops proved correct – that Hugh Jackman (Logan), Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), Mark Wahlberg (Transformers: The Last Knight) and Dwayne Johnson (Baywatch) are all high on the shortlist to lend their voice to the titular Pikachu, although none of them have apparently taken any meetings with regards to the role. YOU HAVE TO GO ELSEWHERE

Just a few months ago we found out that J.J. Abrams was stepping back into the director’s chair in a galaxy far, far away for Star Wars: Episode IX. In a new interview with the BBC, The Force Awakens director told us what we can expect from the film. “I feel like we need to approach this with the same excitement that we had when we were kids, loving what these movies were. And at the same time, we have to take them places that they haven’t gone, and that’s sort of our responsibility. ” Read more here.

THOR: RAGNAROK SPOILERS

Our review for Thor: Ragnarok went live yesterday, and you can read the spoiler-filled description of the post-credit scenes here.

ORIGINAL IRON MAN PLANS

A nice bit of ‘what if’ for you now, and Kevin Feige has revealed in a new interview that the original plan for 2008’s Iron Man was to have Tony Stark tussle with The Mandarin. “As you may recall, when [Jeff Bridges] was hired, he was a secondary villain to the Mandarin. And as we were prepping the movie we realized we didn’t want to do the Mandarin in that movie. And when we took him out and made Obadiah the lead villain, Iron Man became what Iron Man became. But what was required is that Iron Monger [Obadiah Stane] had to go down into that arc reactor.” Read more here.
