Stranger Things season 2 poster has a traditional Halloween theme, offers potential clues

October 2, 2017 by Jordan Jones

It’s almost time to return to Hawkins, Indiana with Stranger Things Season 2 premiering later this month, and Netflix has had an absolute blast calling back to classic horror franchises with their promotional material. The marketing for this upcoming season has got to be one of the most creative campaigns in recent memory, and while this brand new poster isn’t an homage, it’s still quite appropriate for the Halloween season; in fact, this poster may also give us a tiny hint about the antagonists of this season. Check out the poster here…

The holes in those pumpkins look familiar, right? Clearly in the shape of whatever Lovecraftian horrors await this season, it looks like the “Shadow Monsters” are born from pumpkins somehow? Does “Mom” lay her eggs in these pumpkins? Looks like the Stranger Things team may have plenty of infant monstrosities to contend with in addition to the towering foe seen in footage.

It’s 1984 and the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana are still reeling from the horrors of the demogorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab. Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived.

The second season of Stranger Things sees the return of cast members Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobbie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer and Joe Keery, along with new additions Sean Astin (The Goonies), Paul Reiser (Aliens), Linnea Berthelsen (The Desert), Sadie Sink (Odyssey), Dacre Montgomery (Power Rangers) and Brett Gelman (Brett Gelman’s Dinner in America). It will hit Netflix on October 27th.
