Gillian Anderson won’t be returning for American Gods season 2

January 7, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Having confirmed that the current eleventh season of The X-Files will be her final outing as Dana Scully, Gillian Anderson has now revealed that she won’t be returning for the second season of Starz’s American Gods.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Anderson’s departure from the Neil Gaiman adaptation is a result of the exit of showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green, who stepped down last year as a result of budget disputes.

Anderson portrayed the character of Media, a New God who is the personification of mass media and entertainment. Among her many appeareances are Lucy Ricardo from I Love Lucy, David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust, and Marilyn Monroe’s The Girl from The Seven Year Itch.

As yet, there’s been no official word on who’ll be replacing Fuller and Green as showrunners, nor when we might expect the second season to arrive.
