Scarlett Johansson to become highest paid actress in Hollywood with Black Widow movie

January 20, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Many fans have been calling for it since she made her first appearance in Iron Man 2, and now it looks like Marvel Studios is finally ready to pull the trigger on a Black Widow movie, with the studio tapping Jac Schaeffer (Nasty Women) to pen a solo movie for Scarlett Johansson’s Avenger.

Now, according to The Daily Mail, we have a report which claims that Johansson has finalised a $25 million payday from Marvel for the movie, which would make her the highest paid actress in Hollywood. Furthermore, Marvel and Disney are apparently confident that the Black Widow movie could be an even bigger hit than Warner Bros’ Wonder Woman movie, and will pay Johansson an extra $6 million should it manage to surpass $900 million at the worldwide box office (for comparison, Wonder Woman grossed $821 million).

The report goes on to claim that Marvel is eyeing a 2020 release date for Black Widow, although it also states that Jude Law and Ben Mendelsohn are attached to star alongside Johansson, when in fact the two actors have been cast in Captain Marvel. So, probably best taking this with a pinch of salt for the time being…

Johansson will next be back as Black Widow this May alongside virtually ever other Marvel actor in the highly-anticipated Avengers: Infinity War, as well as its 2019 sequel Avengers 4.
