According to THR, This Is Us star Milo Ventimiglia is in talks to star in The Art of Racing in the Rain, an adaptation of the 2008 bestselling novel by Garth Stein.
The movie is being directed by Simon Curtis (Goodbye Christopher Robin) for Fox 2000, and focuses a family dog named Enzo who evaluates his life through the lessons learned by his human owner, a professional race-car driver named Denny Swift.
The rights to the book were first picked by Universal in 2009 as a star vehicle for Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey, who remains on board as a producer. It since moved on to Disney in 2016, before maxing its way to Fox.
Ventimiglia currently stars in This Is Us as Jack Pearson, with this past weekend’s post-Super Bowl episode pulling n a whopping 27 million viewers. His other credits include the likes of Gilmore Girls, Heroes, Rocky Balboa and Sandy Wexler.
