Halle Berry to star in Jagged Edge remake

April 7, 2018 by Gary Collinson

According to Deadline, Sony is in the early stages of development on a remake of the 1985 courtroom thriller Jagged Edge, which is being eyed as a star vehicle for Halle Berry.

Directed by Richard Marquand (Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi) from a script by Joe Eszterhas (Basic Instinct), Jagged Edge starred Jeff Bridges as a publisher accused of the brutal murder of his heiress wife. Glenn Close played his lawyer, who begins an affair with the suspect despite question marks over his innocence. Also featuring in the cast was Robert Loggia, who was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role.

The remake is being produced by Matti Leshem and Doug Belgrad, and is said to be a priority for the studio, with a search currently underway for a writer to pen the script.

Oscar-winner Berry was last seen in the crime thriller Kidnap and spy sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle. She also stars alongside Daniel Craig in the drama Kings, which opens in the U.S. on April 27th 2018.
