Marvel’s Jessica Jones renewed for third season

April 12, 2018 by Ricky Church

Just weeks after premiering its second season, Netflix has confirmed Jessica Jones will return for a third season. The announcement was made via the show’s Twitter page, though didn’t provide any information on when season three will enter production.

Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter as the titular super-powered private detective. The first season saw her battling Killgrave, a man with the power to control anyone and do what he says while the second saw her uncovering the mysteries of her past and how she gained her powers.

The series takes place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, alongside Netflix’s other Marvel Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The four shows had a crossover of sorts with the miniseries The Defenders, which brought all four heroes together as they fought for New York City’s survival.

Though there hasn’t been any word on another season of The Defenders, we’ll still see more of the group in their individual shows. Daredevil and Iron Fist are currently filming their latest seasons while Luke Cage will premiere its second season on June 22nd, 2018.

New York City private investigator Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is beginning to put her life back together after murdering her tormenter, Kilgrave. Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.

The second season of Jessica Jones sees the return of Krysten Ritter as the hard-drinking super-powered private eye, along with Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), Eka Darville (Malcolm Ducasse), David Tennant (Kilgrave) and new cast members Janet McTeer and J.R. Ramirez.
