The Batman director Matt Reeves reveals his favourite Batman comics

Having finished up his work on the Planet of the Apes franchise last year, filmmaker Matt Reeves remains hard at work on development on The Batman, the first Dark Knight solo movie of the DC Extended Universe.

At present, we know very little about Reeves’ plans – we don’t even know for certain whether Ben Affleck will be under the cape and cowl – but Reeves has taken a moment out of the scriptwriting process to answer a fan on Twitter who asked him what his favourite Batman comics are:

There’s a variety of styles and tones in Reeves’ response, which means it’s pretty difficult to make any predictions as to how they might inspire his take on the Caped Crusader and the story he has in mind for the movie. Still, the director has previously revealed that he’s looking to deliver “a noir-driven detective version” of the Dark Knight, which should fit right at home with what we’ve seen of Batman in the DCEU so far.
