Universal may be working on a new Doom movie

April 21, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Despite the recent releases of the likes of Tomb Raider and Rampage, Hollywood still hasn’t quite managed to capitalise on the enormous popularity of the video game industry by delivering a mega hit from such source material.

However, it seems that studios certainly aren’t ready to give up trying, and it looks like Universal Pictures may have another video game-based project on its upcoming slate, with actress Nina Bergman (Assassin X) revealing on Twitter this week that the studio is prepping a new adaptation of the classic first person shooter Doom.

Wow I’m doing the next “Doom” movie w Universal Pictures! I just signed all the paperwork💃🏼I get to go back to Bulgaria again and work with some of my favorite people💕This movie w a super cool Director AND my new record coming out, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world🍀 pic.twitter.com/q8t4iI0bgO

You may recall that Universal already released one adaptation of Doom back in 2005, with a cast that included Karl Urban, Rosamund Pike and Dwayne Johnson. It was however mauled by critics, and tanked at the box office with just $56 million worldwide from a $60 million budget. According to Bergman however, this new version will be superior…

It will be!! Much better script 🙂 https://t.co/WqgksO7678

As yet, Universal is yet to officially confirm the reports, so Doom fans may not want to get too excited just yet. Still, let us know in the comments below if you’re keen to see another adaptation of the iconic video game….
