Baby Driver’s Eiza Gonzalez joins Kung Fury feature

May 12, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

Last year it was announced that director David Sandberg’s cult short Kung Fury is set to receive a feature follow-up starring Michael Fassbender, Arnold Schwarzenegger and David Hasselhoff, and now comes word that From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series and Baby Driver star Eiza Gonzalez has also joined the cast.

The Kung Fury movie will see Sandberg directing, as well as reprising the role of the titular hero. Having assembled a team of Thundercops to defeat the villainous Kung Fuhrer Adolf Hitler, the group disbands after the tragic death of one of its members. However, a mysterious villain emerges from the shadows to aid in the Fuhrer’s quest to attain the ultimate weapon, forcing Kung Fury to travel through space and time to save his friends, defend the prestigious Miami Kung Fu Academy, and defeat evil once and for all.

Released in 2015, the Kung Fury short was produced with support from Kickstarter backers, who raised over $600,000. It was selected to compete as part of Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival and proved a viral sensation online with over 40 million views.
