Rumour: The Flash and Black Adam to shoot in 2019

August 4, 2018 by Gary Collinson

It looks like 2019 is shaping up to be a very busy year indeed for Warner Bros. and DC Films.

In addition to the release of the DC Extended Universe features Shazam! and Wonder Woman 1984 and the standalone Joker origin movie, Margot Robbie has revealed that Birds of Prey is expected to go into production in January, while Matt Reeves has also stated this week that he hopes to begin shooting The Batman in the spring or summer.

Well, it seems we may be able to add another two projects to that production schedule, with reports surfacing that Ezra Miller’s solo movie The Flash and the Dwayne Johnson-headlined Black Adam are both aiming to go before the cameras next year.

Production Weekly (via Pursue News) has a listing which claims The Flash is slated to begin filming in Atlanta in February. The film – which has reportedly dropped the idea of adapting the Flashpoint storyline – is being directed by Game Night helmers and Spider-Man: Homecoming writers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who have recently teased a 2020 release date for the Scarlet Speedster’s solo film.

Meanwhile, a report over at Geeks Worldwide claims that Warner Bros. is eyeing a fall production start for the Black Adam film, with the studio looking to grab a rare spot in the hectic schedule of Dwayne Johnson. The Rock is currently shooting Jungle Cruise, and then will move on to the Fast & Furious spinoff Hobbs and Shaw, followed by the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sequel and action thriller Red Notice.

If these reports are accurate, then it certainly seems to suggest that Warner Bros. is going all in on its DC properties, although as we’ve come to learn these past few years, when it comes to DC Films, plans can and do change frequently.
