Warner Bros. and DC Films developing a Supergirl movie

August 6, 2018 by Gary Collinson

A few days ago it was reported that Henry Cavill’s Superman won’t be making a cameo in next year’s Shazam! movie, and that there’s been no movement on the long-rumoured sequel to Man of Steel.

However, while Superman seems grounded for the time being, Kal-El’s cousin Kara Zor-El may soon be taking flight, with Warner Bros. and DC Films tapping writer Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street, The Cloverfield Paradox) to pen the script for a new Supergirl movie.

The character of Supergirl was created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino and made her debut in Action Comics #252 in 1959. She was previously portrayed on the big screen by Helen Slater in the 1984 Superman spinoff Supergirl, while Melissa Benoist currently portrays Kara in The CW’s Supergirl TV series.

According to Deadline, development on the Supergirl movie is in its earliest stages, and a producer is yet to become attached.

Are you excited about the prospect of a Supergirl movie, and who would you like to see taking on the role of the Girl of Steel? Let us know in the comments below…
