Netflix announces new Ghost in the Shell anime series

Streaming giant Netflix has announced that it has ordered a new Ghost in the Shell anime series entitled Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045, which will be directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) and Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed).

Originating as a manga series from Masamune Shirow, Ghost in the Shell has spawned a number of adaptations including the 1995 anime movie, the TV series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, the Ghost in the Shell: Arise OVA series and the 2017 live-action movie starring Scarlett Johansson.

Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045 joins a growing list of anime programming on Netflix, which includes the hit Castlevania series, a new Ultraman show and upcoming anime adaptations of Pacific Rim and Altered Carbon.
