Rumour: Andre Holland, Rachel Weisz and Alec Baldwin up for Black Widow roles

March 9, 2019 by Gary Collinson

With the Black Widow movie gearing up to go into production this summer, That Hashtag Show is reporting that Moonlight and Castle Rock star Andre Holland could be set to take on the main villain role opposite Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff.

Marvel has reportedly being holding auditions this past week for the antagonist, described as a “tough, dangerous and mysterious” villain, and Holland is said to have impressed with his reading.

Furthermore, the site claims that Marvel is also looking to cast an older male and older female for supporting characters working with the villain, and that Alex Baldwin (Mission: Impossible – Fallout), Sebastian Koch (Bridge of Spies) and Rachel Weisz (The Favourite) are in the mix.

These latest rumours follow on from an earlier report from That Hashtag Show, which claimed that Emma Watson (Beauty and the Beast) tops the shortlist for a key female role, while the likes of  Alice Englert (Beautiful Creatures), Dar Zuzovsky (Hostages) and Florence Pugh (Fighting With My Family) are also in contention.

Black Widow is being directed by Cate Shortland (Berlin Syndrome), and with filming reportedly set to get underway in June it shouldn’t be too long until we get some official casting news.
