Details on a deleted Thor and Valkyrie scene from Avengers: Endgame

May 15, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Despite being three hours in length, we can still expect to see a number of deleted scenes from Avengers: Endgame when the blockbuster superhero epic receives its home-entertainment release later this year. And, to give us a taste of what ended up on the cutting room floor, directors the Russo brothers have revealed a scene between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) which was chopped from the final cut.

“In the ending, we wanted to keep it tight, so we were looking for things to squeeze there,” said Anthony Russo. “But [Thor] had this beat with Valkryie where she puts her arm on his shoulder and he sort of starts to lean in for a kiss. She goes, ‘What are you doing?’ Thor is confused. ‘Oh, I thought that touch…’ and she was like, ‘No, that was, like, a goodbye tap I was giving you. It was a really funny beat, but we cut it.”

“It was really cute,” added Joe Russo. “And it was mostly improvised by the two of them, so it was very funny.”
