Bill & Ted Face the Music begins production, casts its villain

June 22, 2019 by Gary Collinson

After years of rumours and speculation, it’s now official – the long-awaited Bill & Ted Face the Music is actually happening, with Alex Winter announcing on Twitter that filming is underway on the follow-up to 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey.

Winter and Keanu Reeves are reprising their roles as the Wyld Stallyns alongside the returning William Sadler as Death, Samara Weaving (The Babysitter) and Brigette Lundy-Paine (Atypical) as Bill and Ted’s daughters, and Kid Cudi (Need for Speed) in an as-yet-unrevealed role. Meanwhile, it has also been announced that Anthony Carrigan, known for his role as Victor Zsasz in Fox’s Gotham, has been cast as the film’s villain, although specific details on his character are being kept under wraps.

Following 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, the stakes are higher than ever for William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Alex Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Keanu Reeves). Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.

Bill & Ted Face the Music is being directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) from a script by original Bill & Ted writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon and is set for release on August 21st 2020.
