Henry Cavill, Helena Bonham Carter and Fiona Shaw will join Millie Bobby Brown in Enola Holmes

June 29, 2019 by Ricky Church

After being cast as Enola Holmes, the younger sister of the great detective Sherlock Holmes, Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown is set to be joined by several stars in Enola Holmes. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Henry Cavill (Mission: Impossible – Fallout), Helena Bonham Carter (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) and Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve) will star in the adaptation of Nancy Springer’s young adult book series with Cavill filling the big shoes of Enola’s older and famous brother, Sherlock Holmes.

The film’s plot will see Enola attempt to make her own name as a detective while investigating a missing teen whose father has been murdered. With Cavill portraying Sherlock, Carter will play Enola’s mother while Shaw’s role is being kept under wraps.

Enola Holmes will be directed by Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag) from a script by Jack Thorne (Wonder) with Legendary Pictures producing. Brown and her sister, Paige Brown, will also produce through their PCMA Productions banner alongside Legendary’s Alex Garcia and Ali Mendes.

The novels followed Enola, Sherlock’s teenage sister, as she attempts to carve her own career as a detective, proving herself a highly capable and intelligent sleuth as well. The series spanned six books, the first being The Case of the Missing Marquees. This book and the fifth book, The Case of the Cryptic Crinoline, earned Sprinder nominations for Edgar Awards in 2007 and 2010.
