UPDATE: Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington to play the Black Knight in Marvel’s Eternals

August 24, 2019 by Gary Collinson

UPDATE: It has now been confirmed at D23 that Kit Harington is indeed joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and has been cast as Dane Whitman, a.k.a. The Black Knight in next year’s Eternals. Original story follows…

According to a report from Deadline coming out of the D23 Expo, Game of Thrones star Kit Harington is set to swap Westeros for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the trade reporting that the actor has been cast in a mystery role for an upcoming Marvel Studios project.

Having showcased its Disney+ offerings yesterday (including the announcement of Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and She-Hulk TV series), Marvel will be back at D23 today to cover its big screen projects, and Deadline claims that Harington’s casting and character may well be confirmed during the presentation.

Speculation is already running rampant amongst fans regarding Harington’s potential role, with the aforementioned Moon Knight and the MCU’s incarnation of Wolverine seemingly popular choices on social media.

Assuming the report is accurate, Jon Snow isn’t the only Stark set for a trip to the MCU, as Richard Madden – who played Robb Stark in the HBO fantasy series – will star as Ikarus in 2020’s Eternals.

Hopefully we’ll get an official announcement from Marvel later today, but in the meantime, let us know if you’re excited about the prospect of seeing Kit Harington in the MCU, and which characters you think he’d be a fit for…
