Paramount Pictures rebooting Face/Off

September 10, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Paramount Pictures has tapped screenwriter Oren Uziel (The Cloverfield Paradox, Sonic the Hedgehog) to script a reboot of the 1997 John Woo action thriller Face/Off.

The original film pitted John Travolta’s FBI agent Sean Archer and Nicolas Cage’s homicidal sociopath Castor Troy – with the actors switching up roles as their characters undergo surgery which transplants their faces onto one another.

Woo’s third U.S. film after Hard Target and Broken Arrow, Face/Off proved to be a hit at the box office, grossing almost $250 million worldwide.

The reboot is being produced by Neal H. Moritz, whose credits include the Jump Street and Fast & Furious franchises, while the original film’s producer David Permut is on board as executive producer.
