Sophie Turner “would kill” for X-Men return

April 14, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Although Marvel is yet to announce its plans for the X-Men following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox’s film and TV assets, it seems safe to assume that the least likely scenario for the studio would be to simply pick up where X-Men: Dark Phoenix left off and continue the series.

However, that hasn’t stopped a number of stars from the X-Men franchise from expressing their interest in returning to their roles – the latest being Sophie Turner, who portrayed the character of Jean Grey in Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.

“I don’t even know what the deal is, whether Disney wants to continue on the X-Men journey,”said Turner in a recent interview with Variety. “I would always be down to go back to that character and that cast and that experience… we had the best time on those movies. I would kill to go back.”

X-Men isn’t the only one of Turner’s past projects that she’s pining for, as the actress stated last month that she “deeply misses” Game of Thrones and would reprise her role as Sansa Stark “in a heartbeat”.

Sadly for Turner and her fans, a Jean Grey return seems very improbable – although we’ll surely be seeing a number of X-Men actors popping up as different characters in the Marvel Cinematic universe at one point or another, so perhaps there’s another role out there for her in the MCU? What do you think? Let us know in the comments or on our social channels @FlickeringMyth…

This is the story of one of the X-Men’s most beloved characters, Jean Grey, as she evolves into the iconic DARK PHOENIX.  During a life-threatening rescue mission in space, Jean is hit by a cosmic force that transforms her into one of the most powerful mutants of all.  Wrestling with this increasingly unstable power as well as her own personal demons, Jean spirals out of control, tearing the X-Men family apart and threatening to destroy the very fabric of our planet.  The film is the most intense and emotional X-Men movie ever made. It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we’ve come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet — one of their own.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is directed by Simon Kinberg and stars franchise veterans Michael Fassbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Professor X), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver) alongside new additions Kota Eberhardt (The Persian Connection) as Selene, Andrew Stehlin (Hacksaw Ridge) as Red Lotus, and Jessica Chastain (Molly’s Game) and Lamar Johnson (Kings).
