Having found a director last year in Everardo Gout (Luke Cage), the fifth and supposedly final entry in The Purge feature film series has now received the title of The Forever Purge.
Details on The Forever Purge are being kept tightly under wraps, but we do know that the film has been scripted by franchise creator James DeMonaco, who previously teased that: “I think it’s a great way to end it all. We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I’m very excited. When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home.”
Produced by Blumhouse Productions and Platinum Dunes, The Purge began in 2013 and has since spawned three sequels, with a combined gross just under $450 million, as well as a spinoff TV series on USA Network.
The Forever Purge was originally scheduled for release in July 10th 2020, but it’s unclear at this point when we might get to see it.
