Brad Dourif confirmed to return as Chucky in upcoming TV series

July 24, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Earlier this year, it was revealed Child’s Play creator Don Mancini is developing a TV series for Syfy, and now, TV Line has confirmed Brad Dourif will once again be returning to voice the titular doll, Chucky.

This may not come as much as a surprise to fans of the franchise as Dourif has provided the voice of the serial killer doll in every single Child’s Play feature film instalment in the original timeline. However, Dourif was replaced by Mark Hamill in last year’s Lars Klevberg-directed remake.

Mancini is set to write and take on the role of showrunner on the series – titled Chucky – as well as directing the first episode. Franchise producer David Kirschner will also executive produce with Nick Antosca (Channel Zero) and Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks). The series is currently slated to debut in 2021.

Mancini has described Chucky as “a fresh take on the franchise” that will “explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format.”

In the new Chucky television series, after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.

Are you excited by Brad Dourif returning to the franchise as the voice of Chucky? Are you looking forward to the Child’s Play TV series? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @flickeringmyth…
