Stranger Things showrunners won’t “just keep churning it out”, ending has been planned for years

July 2, 2020 by Samuel Brace

According to the Duffer Brothers, they don’t want to keep churning out more seasons of Stranger Things and they have had the ending planned for years.

Stranger Things has been one of the most popular shows on Netflix throughout its three seasons and with a fourth on the way, some might be wondering how long we can expect the sci-fi series to last.

Well, Matt and Ross Duffer, creators of the show, have told Deadline that the season three finale moved them closer to their planned ending which has been on the cards for years:

“We’ve known the ending of the show for quite a while. The honest truth is we didn’t know if we’d go beyond season one, so we like the idea of season one that it could function basically as its own standalone piece, like almost as a limited series. But it had the potential to go beyond that. And if it were to go beyond that, we had an idea of where it would go. Yeah, and we have an ending in mind. We don’t want to just keep churning it out.”

Hopefully the ending planned will be a satisfying one and that season four gives us an idea of what the endgame might be.
