The Conjuring 3 release date delayed to June 2021

July 21, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Warner Bros. has officially delayed the third instalment of The Conjuring franchise, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, from its original September 2020 date to June 4th 2021.

According to Variety, The Conjuring 3 still has additional shooting and post-production work to do – which were originally scheduled for April. However, due to the ongoing global health crisis, film production hasn’t been able to resume so the project wouldn’t be ready in time for the September release date.

Although The Conjuring fans will have to wait longer for the third instalment, writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick has previously teased that The Conjuring 3 will evolve the franchise from the standard haunted house formula audiences witnessed in The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2.

“A chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defence.”

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is directed by Michael Chaves from a screenplay written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and The Conjuring universe creator James Wan. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are set to reprise their roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren respectively.
