Mads Mikkelsen reveals what he would like to see in Hannibal season 4 if it were to happen

November 25, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Despite it being five years since the series was axed by NBC, the cast and crew are hopeful that Hannibal will be revived in the future, and now, one of the stars of the series has discussed what he would like to see in the fourth season if it were to happen.

In an interview with IndieWire, Mads Mikkelsen, who played Hannibal Lecter in the series, revealed that he would love for the series to explore the events of Thomas Harris’ The Silence of the Lambs.

“I don’t think it’s a secret that if it does happen, we would love to go into Silence of the Lambs,” Mikkelsen said. “That’s always been an issue because they didn’t have the rights for that book. But that’s obviously the most famous part and we’d love to go in there. We’d obviously switch it around a little and do all kinds of crazy stuff with it. That story is so interesting and the characters in it are as interesting. We’d switch around the genders and maybe even put two characters into one. We would love to find someone to play Buffalo Bill. That’s going to be tough. We found a Hannibal, so it’s possible.”

Mikkelsen continued by claiming he would have loved to have seen Michael Pitt in the role of Buffalo Bill in the Hannibal series, however, Pitt has already appeared in the show as Mason Verger.

“We already used Michael Pitt for Mason and that was fantastic,” the actor pointed out. “If he wasn’t playing Mason I’d love to see him as Buffalo Bill.”

While there is no official confirmation that Hannibal will return for a fourth season, writer/showrunner Bryan Fuller has previously revealed that he is still “very hopeful” for the future of the series.

“I am very hopeful,” Fuller said. “The great thing about the idea that if we are going to be meeting [back up with Hannibal and Will] and it takes five, six, seven years or what have you, that’s just how long they’ve been on the lam. Then the story picks up from that point. And we’ll adapt.”

Would you like to see the fourth season of Hannibal be developed? Do you think it could happen in the future? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter @flickeringmyth…
