Disenchanted: Disney+’s Enchanted sequel adds Maya Rudolph, Yvette Nicole Brown & Jayma Mays

April 27, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Disenchanted, the highly anticipated follow-up to the fan-favourite 2007 fantasy romance Enchanted, has added Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids), Yvette Nicole Brown (Community), and Jayma Mays (Glee) to the Disney movie’s cast.

According to Deadline, Rudolph, Brown and Mays’ roles are currently being kept under wraps, however, the outlet does state that all three will potentially be the villainous characters in the Disney+ sequel. All three will be starring alongside returning cast members Amy Adams as Giselle, Patrick Dempsey as Robert Philip, James Marsden as Prince Edward, and Idina Menzel as Nancy Tremaine.

The original 2007 live-action movie was a satire on Disney animated princess musicals and follows a fish-out-of-water tale about a cartoon princess who is submerged in modern-day New York City.

While plot details are unknown right now, we do know that Adam Shankman (Rock of Ages, What Men Want) is attached to direct Disenchanted with Barry Josephson, Adams, and Barry Sonnenfeld producing the film. The film, which is set to premiere on the Disney+ streaming service, is currently without a release date but production is currently scheduled to begin sometime this year.
