Seth MacFarlane’s Ted is getting his own TV series

June 10, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Seth MacFarlane’s blockbusting talking teddy-bear Ted is to get his own live-action small screen show on NBC’s Peacock streaming service.

Family Guy and American Dad creator Seth MacFarlane really hit the big time when the original Ted grossed over $600M worldwide back in 2012, and now he’ll write, executive produce and be on voice duties for for the foul-mouthed fuzzball’s return. MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door Productions partner Erica Huggins will co-executive produce, while UCP and MRC Television are making the show as part of MacFarlane’s deal between UCP and Fuzzy Door.

It’s something of a surprise announcement considering the 2015 sequel had little of the charm which made the original such a hit, with Ted 2 failing to get to $100M at the domestic box-office, scraping 44% on Rotten Tomatoes, and indicating that the novelty of a swearing teddy-bear had worn off quite quickly.

There are no details on the human cast yet, but it’s hard to imagine that Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, or Mila Kunis will reprise their roles, so Ted will probably find himself being inappropriate with a whole new family.
