First trailer for Disney’s Encanto promises a fantastical adventure

July 8, 2021 by EJ Moreno

An animated Colombia-set film from Disney? Strike this up as one of their more unique outings to date, as the first look of Encanto feels different than most from Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Encanto is directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, co-directed by Charise Castro Smith. The talented Stephanie Beatriz voices Mirabel, an ordinary 15-year-old who’s struggling to find her place in her family. And coming off his latest musical In the Heights, the film will feature all-new songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Check out the teaser trailer here…

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto” is the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. The all-new original film features the voice of Stephanie Beatriz as Mirabel, an ordinary 15-year-old who’s struggling to find her place in her family. “Mirabel is a really funny, loving character who also deeply yearns for something more,” says Beatriz. “She’s also not afraid to stand up for what she knows is right—something I love and relate to very much.

Encanto opens in theaters on November 24th, 2021.
