Matthew Vaughn’s star-studded spy thriller Argylle is heading to streaming for a cool $200M

August 5, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Apple Original Films are getting a taste for the big-budget ensemble pieces, because having snapped up Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon for a reported $180M, they’ve now dipped into their bottomless pockets to secure Matthew Vaughn’s franchise launching spy-thriller Argylle for a cool $200M.

According to Deadline, Apple is near completion on securing the worldwide rights for the film, which stars Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson, and Dua Lipa, who will also provide Argylle’s title track and score.

The film, based on the soon to be launched novel Argylle, written by author Ellie Conway, follows the world’s greatest spy” ‘Argylle’ as he is caught up in a globe-trotting adventure. It is the first part of an intended trilogy that will take the franchise from America, London, and various locations around the world.

Vaughn, who will write from a script by Wonder Woman‘s Jason Fuchs, commented saying: “I’m thrilled to team with Apple and bring the most compelling spy thriller I’ve ever read to the only streaming service that can create a franchise of this scale and quality for global audiences to experience”.

Big words indeed. Do they get you excited for Argylle, or is the cast alone enough to get you hyped for Matthew Vaughn’s next film? Let us know by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
