Melissa Benoist announces end of filming on Supergirl

After six years, two networks, and multiple DC event crossovers, Melissa Benoist is bidding farewell to the role of Kara Zor-El with the actress taking to Instagram to announce that she’s wrapped filming on the sixth and final season of The CW’s Supergirl.

Benoist shared a photo from the set alongside her co-stars Chyler Leigh (Alex Danvers) and David Harewood (Martian Manhunter), complete with the message: “Thank you for an incredible 6 years — the cast who became family, everyone who worked on the show, all of you who watched us week after week. That’s a wrap on Supergirl.”

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers/Supergirl, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, Jess Rath as Brainiac 5, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw/J’onn J’onnz, Nicole Maines as Nia Nal/Dreamer, Azie Tesfai as Kelly Olsen and Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor.

Supergirl returns to The CW for its final run of episodes beginning August 24th.
