Spider-Man: No Way Home smashes Avengers: Endgame record to become most watched trailer

August 25, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Maybe holding back the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer for so long was the right move since it’s broken records now. The first official look at the upcoming MCU/Sony film had massive hype ahead of its debut, but no one could have expected this.

Deadline reports that the trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has shattered the previous record for the most-viewed trailer in 24 hours. The preview brought in a whopping 355.5M global views in its first 24 hours, surpassing the record previously held by another Marvel film.

Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame is the highest-grossing film of all time, and the fan reaction leading to the debut trailer was insane. Back in 2019, that trailer saw a then-record 289M views on its first day. Spider-Man: No Way Home has now beat that by almost 60 million views. That’s quite an insane number to wrap your head around.

For comparisons to its own franchise, No Way Home more than doubled the 24 hours views for Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer. That trailer for the 2019 film (Sony’s highest-grossing of all time with $1.132 billion) hit 135M views during its first day.

Could Spider-Man: No Way Home become one of Marvel’s highest-grossing films ever, or will its box office potential still be limited by the pandemic? Only time will tell.

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to
separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: No Way Home sees Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home) directing Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Zendaya (MJ), Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds), Tony Revolori (Flash Thompson), Jamie Foxx (Electro) and Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus).
