Zoë Kravitz opens up about her interpretation of Catwoman in The Batman

October 2, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Zoë Kravitz is no stranger to the role of Catwoman. The actress previously voiced her in 2017’s The LEGO Batman Movie and now Kravitz is revisiting the role of Selina Kyle in a whole new light with her portraying Catwoman in the upcoming film The Batman. She’ll star in the Matt Reeves film opposite Robert Pattinson, which will be a massive moment for any actress.

In a recent interview, Kravitz opened up to AnOther magazine about playing the role. While giving her history with the character, she mentioned one key thing that she used in crafting Catwoman, and Kravitz said she wants her to feel like a “real woman.”

“I’ve seen all the movies, yeah. I’ve read some of the comics now, but I wasn’t a comic head or anything,” says the actress. “I also tried to think about it not as Catwoman, but as a woman; how does this make me feel? How are we approaching this, and how are we making sure we’re not fetishizing or creating a stereotype? I knew it needed to be a real person.”

There’s no doubt that Zoe Kravitz has taken the role seriously and seems excited to share her version of Catwoman with the world. Could we see a new glimpse at her at DC Fandome? Find out on October 16th, 2021.

The Batman sees Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse) donning the cape and cowl as Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside Zoe Kravitz (Big Little Lies) as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Paul Dano (Escape at Dannemora) as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Alfred Pennyworth, John Turturro (The Big Lebowski) as Carmine Falcone, Alex Ferns (Chernobyl) as Commissioner Pete Savage, Con O’Neill (Ordinary Lies) as Chief Mackenzie Bock, Peter Sarsgaard (The Killing) as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson and Jayme Lawson (Farewell Amor) as Bella Real.

The Batman is set for release on March 4th, 2022.
