First cast photo from How I Met Your Father revealed as Kim Cattrall joins spinoff

November 12, 2021 by Ricky Church

Hulu has released the cast first photo from the upcoming How I Met Your Mother spin-off How I Met Your Father starring Hilary Duff (Younger), Chris Lowell (GLOW), Francia Raisa (Grown-ish), Tom Ainsley (The Royals), Tien Tran (Space Force) and Suraj Sharma (Homeland).

The synopsis for How I Met Your Father reads: “In the near future, Sophie (Duff) is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the year 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends – Jesse (Lowell), Valentina (Raisa), Charlie (Ainsley), Ellen (Tran) and Sid (Sharma) —  are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.”

Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City) was recently cast as the voice of the older Sophie telling this story to her son, much like how Bob Saget voiced the older Ted Mosby played by Josh Radnor for the duration of How I Met Your Mother.

How I Met Your Father will run for 10 episodes using the multi and single-cam format. It was written and executive produced by creators Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger (Love Victor). How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas executive produce along with Adam Londy. 20th Television is producing the series while Duff is among the producers.

How I Met Your Father is expected to premiere on Hulu in early 2022.
